Helana Balkin received her B.B.A. degree in finance from the University of Miami where she graduated magna cum laude. Shortly thereafter, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. While attending law school, Helana served as associate editor for the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review and was the recipient of both the Outstanding Merit Scholarship and Dean’s Honor Scholarship. Her career began at a national labor and employment firm, Jackson Lewis P.C., where Helana represented employers in a variety of workplace related matters.
In addition to developing strategic business decisions with human resource professionals, Helana conducted employee trainings on a wide range of employment law-related issues. Her profound understanding about how to counsel clients on issues in the workplace, such as discrimination, sexual harassment and employee benefits has made her a natural in her field. Additionally, she served as a fellow for the Florida Office of the Attorney General in the Economic Crimes Division where she gained experience working with the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, Florida Land Trust Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Helana is a licensed real estate agent in the state of Florida where she has been living for the past ten years.
In her free time, Helana enjoys cooking, exercising and traveling to Latin America with her husband.
